What is the dress code for graduation?
A graduation is a formal event, and even though your gown will be covering your outfit, we encourage semi-formal or business casual attire. You will be at the event for a few hours, with rehearsal. The event will be a combination of standing and sitting, so make sure you’re dressed comfortably enough for both. Graduates will process up steps and in front of a stage, so be sure you can walk in your shoes. If you’re planning to wear heels, consider a low heel. Please keep in mind that this is a school event.
Can my parents stay for REHEARSAL?
We ask that parents and guests arrive when doors open for seating.
Can i decorate my cap?
Yes, please be sure to read and sign the Cap Decorating data view.
What should i bring?
Space is limited, belongings should be left with guests before arriving. There will not be a secured location for belongings during the ceremony.
What is the graduate Slide show?
A highlight of the graduation ceremonies is being able to see our graduates. We will display pictures submitted by graduates in a slideshow before the start of the ceremony.
What is the may 5th deadline?
Seniors planning to attend a graduation ceremony must have lessons completed by May 5th (11:59 pm)- this is about 2 weeks before the end of the school year. This means you will have to work ahead in many classes, teachers will have all resources available but reach out to them if you have any questions.
Completing classes by May 5th allows graduates to receive their diplomas at the graduation ceremony. This allows teachers enough time to finish grading and our Manager of Counseling Services to review transcripts and complete all steps to confirm that you are a true high school graduate as you walk across the stage and leave the ceremony with your diploma.
If you are not planning on attending a ceremony, you will have until May 17th to finish classes.

Other Senior FAQs
I DO NOT PLAN TO ATTEND THE GRADUATION, HOW WILL I GET MY DIPLOMA?
Diplomas will be mailed out in June, please make sure that we have the correct address on file. If a change needs to be made to the address, please add it to the Application for Diploma Data view.
How do I request an official transcript for a college?
To request your final official transcripts to be sent to either yourself or the college/university you plan to attend, please visit this website: https://ncagrads.weebly.com/. Please follow the directions as listed on the page. It is important to note that Final Transcripts will not be processed until after May 22nd, after both NCA Graduation Ceremonies. You may submit your requests early, and they will be held for processing until the aforementioned date.
How do i request a letter of recommendation?
For a counselor's recommendation, please reach out to your counselor directly. The College Recommendation Survey is a great place to start a "brag" sheet but your counselor may have additional questions. Please allow for two week notice when requesting letters from counselors or teachers.
Did I miss Senior Photos?
Many families choose to get professional photos to mark the milestone year. Senior photos are not provided by or scheduled through the school. NCA does not have a yearbook but we will collect digital photos for a senior slideshow. These photos are not required to be professional but we will request one photo be in cap & gown or business attire.
How do I return my laptop?
Caretakers of students who are graduating will receive two emails during the last week of school:
The first email, from Connections Academy, will contain instructions on how to return school-issued equipment. The second email, from UPS ([email protected]), will contain a link to retrieve and print prepaid shipping label(s).
Caretakers will need to print the shipping labels, pack materials using a sturdy box and packaging materials, locate an authorized UPS Drop-Off point, and drop off their package(s).
If Caretakers need assistance, they should call a Student Services Associate at 800-382-6010 or visit the Returning Materials website. The Returning Materials page provides additional guidance on what items to return, how to return them, and a general FAQ.
